January 4, 2018Underwriting Q & A | Is the statutory process of “bonding around” a filed mechanic’s lien affidavit (MLA) always a potential remedy to closing the transaction without making payment to the contractor claiming the lien or excepting to the claim of lien in the policy?
January 17, 2018Happy New Year! Last year I blogged about a New Year’s resolution to encourage business health checks to evaluate the well being of your business. This year, with all the news of wire fraud, I think it is priority one for all of us to create a Wire Fraud Response Plan.
Companies should create a written policy this month to respond effectively and efficiently to wire fraud incidents. Your staff should all be well trained to take action immediately when a situation occurs. If funds have been compromised, employees should know, based on “your” plan and their training, the tasks they need to perform. Time is of essence and the chance of recovering lost or stolen funds diminishes greatly after 24 hours.
Please contact your FNTI agency manager for an example of a plan you can implement within your company. This resolution should be priority one this year and may help you sleep better at night in the fight to prevent wire/cyber fraud.
